In January 2017, we were asked to perform on the main stage at the NAMM
show (National Association of Music Merchants) in Anaheim, California. For
those who have never heard of NAMM, it’s kind of like the biggest and best
musician’s toy store! Everyone in the industry comes to this event and it’s a great
place to learn about new products and to make connections with businesses and
musicians from all over the world. Our very first trip to NAMM was in 2016 and
we were so excited to come back this year and even more excited to be asked to
play on the main stage! This event has featured artists like Rascal Flatts, Taylor
Swift and Stevie Wonder to name a few. We brought nahenahe Hawaiian music
and of course “Aloha” to the outdoor NAMM stage with an audience of
over 1,000 people in 40 degree weather (too cold for us Hawaiians—but we
made it through!). We were proud to represent our sponsors: Kanile’a ‘Ukulele
and Kala U-Bass on that stage as well! We were also asked to do a few demo
performances at our sponsors’ booths and got to stop by and say ALOHA to our
good friends at Kamaka ‘Ukulele! It was an eventful trip and so educational!
Can’t wait to go back again next year 🙂
