Na Hoku Hanohano Award WINNERS!

Wow, wow, wow!! What an amazing year it has been!! This past April, we performed at our very first Merrie Monarch. At the beginning of May, we were so blessed to be asked by Uncle Robert Cazimero to perform at his Lei Day celebration at The Bishop Museum (pinch me!) And a few weeks later, at the Na Hoku Hanohano Awards, we took home four of those prestigious awards including Album Of The Year, Group Of The Year, Contemporary Album Of The Year and Music Video Of The Year for When I Come Home. We were nominated for six total awards but were so happy for our peers ~ Imua Garza who won Engineer Of The Year and our sister Kimie Miner who won Song Of The Year with her song Bamboo. We had learned that we were up for six awards while at the Merrie Monarch festival in April but had no idea or had any expectations of winning! Earlier in the evening, we performed alongside Ho’okena. They performed their newest song Keokea Paka with accompanying hula maidens ~ Nanea Oda and Aunty Nani Dudoit and we performed our song When I Come Home featuring the beautiful ladies of Halau Hula Olana. When I Come Home was nominated this year for Song Of The Year! Right after our performance, we had to run away to a show in town (yes, our manager booked us at a show that evening ~ thanks, mom!). BUT, during our show, we received news that we had won TWO awards already that evening!! We were so happy to come back to the Hoku’s and be there for the last two wins ~ Group OTY and Album OTY. This was our first full length album as a family band and to be recognized as Group Of The Year after so many years in the industry and with so many transitions the band had gone through, we were so touched. Thank you to all the HARA members for voting for us, radio stations for playing our music and to all of our fans worldwide! WE LOVE YOU!!
